Summer Path Shawl
This Summer Path Shawl is open and airy making it the perfect light weight shawl for cool summer nights. Made up from double crochets and chain stitches, it is a great pattern for a beginner crocheter. Take away from the length for an optional triangle scarf. Due to the simplicity of the pattern, a gradient yarn, such as this, works well to display the beauty of the yarn. Stick with a light weight, fine yarn to keep the shawl from being too weighted down.

Row 4: ch 3, dc in the same st, ch 1, sk 1, v st in the ch 1 space from the previous row, *ch 1, sk v st, v st in the ch 1 space*, repeat * until the center w st, ch 1, sk (dc, ch 1), “w st” in the center of the w st from the last row, ch 1, sk (ch 1, dc) from the previous row, v st in the next ch 1 space, *ch 1, sk v st, v st in the ch 1 space*, repeat * through the final ch 1 space, ch 1, 2 dc in the top of the ch 3 from the previous row, turn.
Row 5 and beyond: repeat row 4, naturally increasing by adding a v st to the ch 1 from the previous rows. Work to the desired length of shawl. Tie off and weave in ends. My completed shawl used all 1093 yards from the Stitch Studio Cotton Colors cake, which was equivalent to ~62 rows.
